How RetireGlide works
Step 1 · speak or type
Have a plain-language planning interview
Talk through the plan naturally or answer one typed question at a time: when you'd like to retire, what you've saved, and what matters most. Voice and text follow the same planning path. Every proposed fact is yours to confirm before it enters the plan, and almost everything is skippable — documented assumptions fill the gaps until you're ready.
Step 2 · whenever you're ready
Bring any supported financial document — no passwords
Drop in account screenshots or PDFs of up to 20 pages, Social Security statements, Form 1040s, and pension or annuity payout statements. Then — this matters — you review every proposed value beside its source before anything is saved. Low-confidence reads are highlighted, account type is always yours to confirm, and a tax return can never silently change the state in your plan. Source files are deleted after you confirm, or automatically within 30 days if you do not.
Step 3 · the dashboard
Your forecast, two ways
First, the number you can act on: “You can safely spend $6,400–$7,900/month.” Second, the odds: your plan's success rate across 1,000 simulated market futures, with failure framed honestly — not “you fail,” but “in 90 of 1,000 futures you'd need to trim spending by your mid-80s.” Drag the sliders — retirement age, spending, Social Security timing — and the whole simulation recomputes instantly. An accuracy meter shows which question would sharpen your forecast most next.
The voice path
A conversation does the gathering. Code does the math.
Say it naturally
Describe your timing, savings, spending, and goals without translating them into financial jargon.
Confirm the facts
Balances, ages, dates, and goals appear for your review. The interview cannot silently change your plan.
See the modeled result
The same deterministic engine runs every tax calculation, projection, and simulation whether you spoke or typed.
Voice access: Free includes one capped first voice interview of up to about 15 minutes. Premium includes ongoing voice interviews. If you upgrade from inside the interview, the separate voice trial is 3 days free and then renews at $14/month unless you cancel.
The questions everyone asks
- “Can I talk instead of type?”
- Yes. The interview works by voice or text and covers the same plain-language planning questions. In voice mode, anything it hears becomes a proposed plan fact; you review and confirm each fact before it is saved to your plan.
- “Is the voice interview recorded?”
- No recording is stored. Your audio is processed live for transcription, and the written transcript is saved to your account so you can revisit it. You can delete transcripts anytime from the privacy center.
- “Is this financial advice?”
- No. RetireGlide is an educational modeling tool — a very good calculator with honest assumptions, not an advisor. It will never tell you to buy or sell a specific investment. It shows how choices you're considering would change your modeled outcome, with every assumption visible and editable. For personal advice, consult a fiduciary professional.
- “Why screenshots instead of linking my accounts?”
- Linking means sharing credentials or an OAuth connection with a third-party aggregator and maintaining a live connection. Screenshots let you choose exactly what to share, avoid sharing a password, and can cover institutions — including small 401(k) recordkeepers — when the needed balances and holdings are visible.
- “What if the AI reads my account wrong?”
- It sometimes will — which is why nothing goes into your plan without your sign-off. Every extracted number is shown beside the image it came from, cross-checked mathematically (positions must add up to the account total), and anything uncertain is flagged. Fixing a value takes one tap.
